ジャマイカ生まれ。子供の頃に家族と共にカナダ・トロントに移り住む。
15歳のときに声のレッスンを受け始め、ダンスリズムの才能も兼ねて
高校時代はローカルテレビなどの様々なショーに出演する。
その後、Claudjaはニューヨークを経てドイツに渡るわけだが
何より特筆すべきは、彼女が初代Boney Mのボーカルだったこと。
しかし当時のBoney Mが口パクがほとんどで、パフォーマンス重視だったことに嫌気が差し
早々と脱退してしまう(Boney MはのちにLiz Mitchellが加入し超メジャーに)。
彼女を変えたのはプロデューサーKorduletschとの出会いであろう。
結婚してからシンガーとしての才能が開花する。
この“Boogie Woogie Dancing Shoes”は79年の大ヒット作。
