Boney M / Rasputin



のっけから刺激的な画像だが、これは96年に Alan Rickmanがラスプーチン役を演じたドラマのワンシーンである。
かなりクールに作られているが、ロシア史でのラスプーチンは06年12/16のColumnで述べた通り、怪僧と称された人物。
実在する写真もおよそ不気味なものだ。

これから紹介する曲もそのラスプーチンを歌ったもの。ただ、こちらはドイツのBoney Mが78年にヒットさせたものでクールとは言い難い。
当然、ドラマとも無関係。要するにドラマの方はアメリカ制作であり、Alan Rickmanが格好よすぎるのだ。

Boney Mの【Rasputin】の歌詞にはたくさんの皮肉が込められている。持ち上げては落とし、落としては持ち上げ。
当然、パロディーとしてとらえる他ないわけだが、自然と体が動いてくるダンスナンバー。これもラスプーチンの法力なのか。

Boney Mはドイツ生まれのユニット。表舞台には出ていないが、Zambi（Frankie Farian)によりプロデュースされた。
もともとは彼がレコーディングしたものを女3名男1名によって口パクで演じていた。
最初のヒット曲【BABY DO YOU WANNA BUMP】はまさにそれである。


彼らを変えたのは Liz Mitchellの加入だった。その後のヒットナンバーのほとんどが
彼女のリードボーカルでもっていたといっても過言ではない。
ビデオを見てもらえばどれがLizなのか（写真では左下）は一目瞭然だ。

あとそれ以上に気になるのが、単独で激しいダンスを繰り広げている紳士 Maizie Williamsの存在であろう。
彼の行動は非常にユニークなものだが、すべての曲においてアクセントになっている。

彼らはロシア（当時ソビエトと呼ばれた）では西側ポップ・アーチスト初としてコンサートを行っている。
ただ歴史的な理由から、この『Rasputin』を歌うことは許可されなかった。

Boney Mは79-80年にかけてLizが結婚、出産したあたりから陰りが見えはじめ
休止活動後の復活もさほど振るわず衰退していくことになる。
